Mary Beth West, CEO, IUCN-US
Mary Best West is the CEO of IUCN-US. Ms. West joined IUCN-US in 2010. She is an experienced international environmental lawyer and diplomat. Prior to her tenure at IUCN-US, Ms. West was a consultant on international environmental issues. From 1996 to 2003, she was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Oceans and Fisheries in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs of the U. S. Department of State, with rank of Ambassador. Prior to 1996, Ms. West served in the Office of the Legal Adviser of the Department of State, and also in the Office of the General Counsel of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Ms. West is also the Director of the IUCN Washington, D.C. Office; she serves in the capacity of CEO of IUCN-US under contract between IUCN and IUCN-US. Ms. West received her J.D. from Stanford Law School and a B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Ang Sherpa, Chief Financial Officer, IUCN-US
Mr. Sherpa is the CFO of IUCN-US. He joined IUCN-US in April 1998. Prior to coming to Washington, D.C., Mr. Sherpa was the Senior Finance Officer of the IUCN Nepal office from December 1992 to March 31,1998. Prior to IUCN Nepal, Mr. Sherpa worked for projects under the Government of Nepal jointly funded by the Government of Nepal and donors. Mr. Sherpa is also the Senior Finance Manager of the IUCN Washington, D.C. Office Finance Unit; he serves in the capacity of CFO of IUCN-US under contract between IUCN and IUCN-US. Mr. Sherpa is a graduate of Tribuvan University in Nepal and received his B.S. in Accounting from Strayer University in Washington, D.C. He is a Certified Public Accountant from the Commonwealth State of Virginia, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Larissa Hotra, Strategic Partnerships and Development Officer
Larissa Hotra is the Strategic Partnerships and Development Officer of the IUCN Washington, D.C. Office, part of the IUCN Strategic Partnerships Unit in Gland, Switzerland. She joined IUCN in 2010 and assists IUCN-US on a contract basis as necessary. Prior to joining IUCN, Ms. Hotra worked for over six years on issues relating to the environment, including environmental education, justice, human rights, resource-based conflict, community-based conservation, green technology, development and sustainable agriculture. Ms. Hotra holds an M.A. in International Affairs from the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs and a B.S. from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources.
